We miss you Grandma!

As we were getting Jack ready for his first visit to his grandparents house Lilly decided to find a running water hose and play in the mud. Jack and Lilly are keeping us very busy right now!

What would we have done these past three weeks without Grandma Rose. My mom left work and drove into Abilene on June 2, 2008. Since then she has been here to help or do anything and everything. Sadly she went back home yesterday. She packed up all (I think she brought every piece of luggage she owns) of her things and left us. After a tearful hug and a sad goodbye she got into her car and headed for San Antonio. It's been several years since I've been able to spend this much time with my mom. We both feel so fortunate to have been able to spend everyday together since the day Jack was born. We both thought I was going to have children when she was already much older :) And yes, Kris too was sad to see my mom leave. We both got used to seeing her everyday and having her around. My mom shared so much advice and guidance with us. Thank you, mom. We love you and miss you soo much (we've talked on the phone about 6 times today)!!!! I promise I'm not that spoiled, I was just reminded what it's like to live in the same city as your mom.

Thank goodness we have Mama Kitty here!!!!

Relief!!!

Well, tomorrow Jack is three weeks old. Can you believe it? Time has flown by us. Things have been so busy lately. Since last week we have been to visit the pediatrician three times. It's official, my son is three weeks old and constipated. If you've ever watched a baby try to poo with no release you know how hard it is to watch. His little legs shake and he cries. Besides the constipation there is the spiting up. This I have learned is normal, scary because it sometimes happens in his sleep, but normal.
RELIEF!!! I started writing this blog this afternoon at about 3 pm. Tonight at 9:30 pm Jack finally found some relief, he went poo!!!! Maybe tonight we'll get more sleep :)

Just some pictures

Here is some more pictures. Not a whole lot to say because my mind was wrapped around the Celtic beating the Lakers.

He's already getting bigger! It's surreal to already watch him grow.

Jack is here

Well sorry for the delay in our blog, it's not like we are the best at keeping up with it but we did have good reason. Our beautiful son was born on Wednesday June 4 at 6:08 pm. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19.5 in. long. After about an hour of pushing the doctor suggested Amanda have a c-section so we don't put more stress on the baby and about 15 minutes later Jack was born. However, we could sense that things were not normal. As soon as he was given to me they snatched him right back and the nurse bolted out the door with him. I quickly followed her to the very back of the nursery. They said he might have one of three things: premature lung disease(highly unlikely), fluid in the lungs(likely), and a collapsed lung(likely). I had only been a Dad for less than an hour and I was already a stressed out parent. Luckily, we found out that he only had fluid in his lungs and it was very easy to treat. He slowly worked his way off oxygen support and the antibiotics helped him tremendously. Finally on Sunday we took him home at 3 pm. Our little boy gave us a good scare but he's fine now. Just a regular pooping, crying and sleeping machine.

Heres the little guy

He's coming!

Well we went to the doctor today to our final appointment, or at least we hoped it would be. All day today Amanda has been having a lot of pain down in her pelvic region because he's moving around a lot. Before the doctor checked her cervix he jokingly said, "Well at the least you can hope to be dialated at a 3 or a 4. Much to our surprise and excitement we found out she is dialated to a 3! So we are going in Wednesday morning (6/4) at 5 am and she will be induced. After that it will be another waiting game but at least we know that he will be here on Wednesday. Also it will be Amanda's birthday that same day so that will be special for her and our son to have the same birthday. Alright well just pray for us as we are about to be really busy the next couple of months and really the rest of our lives. Soon we will have pictures of him on here.
